"Classic" Canadian play first performed in 1985. Jacob, returning home to Newfoundland in 1926 from Toronto, tries to woo his love, an embittered Mary, who is already engaged to someone else. Jacob tries to convince Mary to forgive him for suddenly leaving the year before and ditch the new fiance. Mary's porch on a starlit night is the scene for this tender, sometimes acerbic and totally moving story.
