That's the Leith Summer Festival's invitation to you, as they proudly present their 2012 season of summer concerts, an eclectic treat, created to bring music lovers outstanding performances by some of Canada's finest musical talent.
Four of the first five recipients of the $5000 Donna Steinacher Bursary, (sponsored by The Friends of Leith Church and awarded to an outstanding young local musician to assist in pursuing a career in music performance,) perform singly and together for this memorable night of music at the Leith Summer Festival. From Texas, Indiana, British Columbia and Waterloo they will gather from their far-flung locations to participate in this much anticipated event. This will surely be a 'sell-out' concert.
Susanne (Hawkins) Holmes, the missing 'Star', will be rehearsing the role of Gretel in the opera 'Hansel & Gretel' preparing for a five month tour in the United Kingdom.
Renee Kruisselbrink, a multi-talented young pianist from Tara, Ontario. Renee holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she was the recipient of the Faculty of Music Gold Medal (for the highest grade point average of all fourth year students) upon graduation.
Sebastian Ostertag - The son of two well known area musicians Joachim Ostertag and Colleen Purdon. Sebastian Ostertag is known and recognized here as a vibrant and talented cellist and has performed for some years with the Georgian Bay Symphony Orchestra and most notably, at the Sweetwater Music Festival in 2008, with some of Canada's most important string players.
Emily Aquinis- a young woman who is very well known in the Owen Sound area as a violinist, teacher and a member of the string section of the Georgian Bay Symphony.
