Event Details
Event type: All Ages / LicensedThe “Nathan Sings Stan – The Rogers Legacy continues” is a very special tour that is Nathan’s tribute to his father’s (Stan Rogers) music ... music that continues to amaze and inspire us. Who better to sing Stan Rogers' songs than his son, Nathan? Because he gets so many requests to sing his dad's songs, Nathan decided to do a one-time-only tour singing his dad's repertoire. His voice is so like Stan's that if you close your eyes you may think you've gone back in time. Singing, chanting, playing the guitar and stomping, Nathn fills any stage with “magnificent powerfully clear lyrics and arrangements.” Described as ‘intelligent and witty’, Nathan will ‘move men and women to tears with his sound and conviction.”
Stan Rogers was noted for his rich, baritone voice and his finely-crafted, traditional-sounding songs which were frequently inspired by Canadian history and the daily lives of working people. Passing before his time at age 33 in an airplane accident at the Greater Cincinnati Airport, Stan’s legacy carries on as a passionate Canadian partisan, and much of his short creative life was taken up with song cycles that chronicled the East, the Plains, the West and finally the Great Lakes and Ontario. He was always on the road pursuing his dream of establishing a national identity for Canadian songwriting. It was a dream fulfilled; through his constant soaring, dynamic performances, and brilliant songs, his influence on Canadian folk music has been deep and lasting.
