Auras is a progressive metal band from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, known for their intense fusion of groove-laden djent, melodic metalcore, and progressive metal. Formed by a tight-knit group of friends, the band has released several notable EPs and albums, including Panacea (2013), Crestfallen (2015), Heliospectrum (2016), and their full-length album Binary Garden (2019), earning acclaim for intricate rhythms, dynamic modulation, and relentless riffing often enhanced with sci-fi-inspired textures. In June 2023, vocalist Eric Almeida departed the band, though Auras signaled that new music was forthcoming, demonstrating their ongoing evolution in the metal scene. Their dedication to musicianship and innovative sound was recognized in June 2025 when they won a Juno Award for "Instrumental Album of the Year," marking a significant milestone in their career.
