Davood Ali Asgari, professionally known as Locksmith, is an American rapper and lyricist born on May 7, 1985, in Richmond, California. Emerging from the Bay Area underground hip-hop scene, he first gained recognition as half of the duo The Frontline, helping to pioneer the "New Bay" movement in the 2000s. Renowned for his intricate wordplay, technical skill, and socially conscious lyrics, Locksmith has built a reputation as one of the top lyricists in modern hip hop. Over the years, he has released a series of acclaimed solo projects, including Lofty Goals (2015), Ali (2018), No Atheists in Foxholes (2024), and his latest, Wine & Circus (2025). Beyond recording, he has performed nationally and internationally, earning respect for his freestyles and battle rap credentials. Locksmith continues to push the boundaries of underground and mainstream hip hop, blending personal storytelling, sharp social commentary, and masterful flow, securing his place as a prominent figure in the genre.
