Lou Gramm, born Louis Andrew Grammatico in 1950 in Rochester, New York, is an American singer and songwriter best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the rock band Foreigner. Gramm was the frontman for Foreigner from 1976 to 1990 and again from 1992 to 2003, delivering iconic performances on hits such as Cold as Ice, I Want to Know What Love Is, Waiting for a Girl Like You, and Juke Box Hero. Initially a drummer in school marching bands and choirs, he discovered his passion for singing at an early age, eventually shaping the signature sound that propelled Foreigner to international fame. Gramm also explored solo projects and collaborations with bands like Shadow King, Black Sheep, and Perfect World. In 2013, he and Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Known for his powerful voice and emotional delivery, Lou Gramm remains a defining figure in classic rock and a celebrated performer on stages worldwide.
