Spoons is a Canadian new wave band formed in Burlington, Ontario in 1979. The band is best known for chart hits from the 1980s, including Nova Heart, Romantic Traffic, and Arias & Symphonies. Original members Gordon Deppe (vocals, guitar) and Sandy Horne (vocals, bass) continue to perform alongside Chris McNeill (drums) and Scott MacDonald (keyboard). Spoons became a defining act of the Canadian new wave scene, blending synth-driven melodies with catchy pop hooks. Over four decades, they have released albums such as Stick Figure Neighbourhood (1981), Arias & Symphonies (1982), Talkback (1983), Vertigo Tango (1988), and more recent works including Static in Transmission (2011) and New Day New World (2019). The band remains active, touring across Canada and celebrating their enduring influence on Canadian music.
