Born on October 28, 1947, in Ottawa, Ontario, Rostad began his career as a radio DJ across Ontario and Newfoundland before establishing himself as a recording artist with his own label, Stag Creek Records, in 1979. He released the acclaimed album Writer of Songs and became widely recognized for his heartfelt music, including the popular Christmas in the Valley series. Beyond music, Rostad gained national fame as the host of On the Road Again, a television series that aired from 1987 to 2007, showcasing ordinary Canadians and their extraordinary stories, which earned him widespread admiration.
