The University of Waterloo's "grassroots" orchestra has had an amazing run since its formation in 2004, entirely by interested students, staff, and faculty on campus. Besides their two annual full-orchestra concert, they demonstrate the skills of several outstanding members by forming chamber ensembles. 2014's players and music are still being assembled - we'll update when this is known. But rest assured that you'll hear some remarkable musicians - AND give a bit of a boost to their budget, which is entirely self-and-donation-generated. [pictured: Wallace Wu, long concertmaster of the orchestra - and soloist in the Tchaikovsky violin concerto some years back!] Program so far: Debussy, Quartet in g minor; Arensky, Trio No. 1 - played by the Perimeter Trio (string players are advanced students at the Perimeter Institute] More when known.
