RANT MAGGIE RANT will be bringing their annual Frost & Fire: A Celtic Christmas Celebration! Tour to the Parlour on Dec 13 at 7:00 pm to spread a little Celtic Christmas cheer. This marks the first time the band has brought this very popular Christmas show to Caledon. Concert-goers will be treated to a sound as lovely as the hushed winter landscape and as rollicking as a team of horses running away with the sleigh. The concert repertoire includes traditional Celtic seasonal fare, a few Christmas chestnuts and traditional Celtic tunes, with a couple of fun surprises, as well as some spirit-raising and dance-inducing instrumentals, perfect for the all-night Christmas kitchen party. Rant Maggie Rant took home hardware at the 2013 Jack Richardson Music Awards gala. The band received a Jack Richardson Music Award in the Traditional Folk/Roots category. The band has covered a lot of ground over the last few years performing throughout Newfoundland, on Canada’s west coast, in Quebec and south of the border in Chicago, as well as Saline, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan and many cities and venues in between. Earlier this year, the band performed in Sarnia and Port Huron, Michigan with the International Symphony Orchestra, Ottawa’s National Arts Centre, their fourth annual and perennially sold out St. Patrick’s Celebration show at Toronto’s prestigious folk-roots venue Hugh’s Room (where their latest CD was recorded), London’s Home County Music & Arts Festival Saturday night Main stage ahead of the legendary Ashley MacIsaac, the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival and many more. They are booked to play three dates with the River Run Centre in Guelph and two dates with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. Based in Stratford, Ontario, Rant Maggie Rant showcases the talents of Lindsay Schindler (fiddle, background vocals), Glen Dias (lead vocals, recorders, percussion) and Barry James Payne (guitars, harmonica, background vocals) with special guests. Joining them this season will be guest musicians Rob Larose (drums, percussion), Steve Clark (bass) and Dave Clysdale (Irish whistle, Irish flute and accordion. Don’t miss this exciting Christmas show with one of Canada’s most dynamic Celtic Fusion ensembles!
