Event type: All Ages
Join us for an "Evening With Ian Foster" featuring a screening of his award-winning short film "Keystone" and a musical set featuring songs from his latest album "Sleeper Years" (which has been nominated for FIVE MusicNL awards!). As always, all ticket sales go directly to the artist, and admission includes snacks!
About Ian: Ian Foster, native of Newfoundland, Canada, is a storyteller. That music is the way he tells those stories only makes the telling richer still. Modern folk wrapped in Canadiana, Ian’s writing style belies a love of history, home and the humble tale. CBC’s Bob Mersereau described him as being “a fine example of what a 21st century folk performer should be doing.”
About Keystone: An official selection for multiple film festivals! Synopsis: When Jack begins to forget, he visits Keystone, an organization with an unlikely mandate: making your most important memories truly ‘unforgettable.’ When Jack begins to recount moments from his life in an interview, he reveals the bond he formed with one particular woman, and the importance he has placed on their story. Ian Foster | Writer, Director & Composer
About Sleeper Years:
“This is a craftsman at work…one thing that anybody previously familiar with Foster’s work knows is that above all else he’s a master with words. He’s got many a tale to tell and tells them with elegance. Some of the songs are in essence short stories, others poeticisms reflecting a connection to his surroundings….Foster has become the model modern Newfoundland songwriter. Fluid in genre, pitch perfect in practice, but still harkening to the raconteur beginnings of the folk tradition.”
– Brad Pretty, The Overcast Magazine, Newfoundland
