QuartetFest No. 2 is the "biggie" of the series, with all participating musicians forming a splendid orchestra. The violinist of the AYR Trio, Yehonatan Berick, is one of Canada's top musicians; he solos in the wonderful Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. The FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA is made up of ethe Penderecki Quartet, cellist Rachel Mercer of the AYR TRIO, and all of the EIGHT fine student ensembles in QuartetFest.
SHOSTAKOVICH's Octet will be played by the PENDERECKI QUARTET plus the prize-winning KODAMA Quartet
ELGAR's beautiful and popular Introduction and Allegro for String Quartet and String Orchestra completes the program.
NOTE that this concert is at WLU's MAUREEN FORRESTER RECITAL HALL - NOT the Music Room, where such an ensemble wouldn't fit!
