The HMM Trio, as it was formerly known -- it now calls itself the Andromeda Trio -- has performed three times in our Music Room, with increasing professionalism. They have risen from the status of three friends who wanted to make music to become one of Canada's important ensembl,es.
This time, their program focuses entirely on Russian repertoire:
Tchaikovsky: Trio in a, op. 50
Rachmaninoff: Trio Elegaique No. 2, op. 9
This will be their second offering of the huge Tchaikovsky trio, which is among his very finest works, and the first offering of the companion piece by Rachmaninoff, written more or less in memory of the great Tchaikovksy one. Both are wonderful pieces which any chamber music patron simply has to hear! - Especially when in the hands of outstanding performers such as these.
