In this introductory workshop, learn about the loom – the parts, functions, and purposes -and how to thread it. Following a simple pattern, bead your very own bracelet! Once the beadwork is complete, learn to tie-off your bracelet and add the leather attachments.

Ashley-Rose Machendagoos is a renowned Ojibway artist and educator. She is the owner of Zhawenim Designs – a contemporary beadwork enterprise in Ottawa. She has facilitated workshops with the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Carleton University, and the Ottawa-Carletone District School Board. In all her work, Ashley-Rose exemplifies Zhawenim, meaning “unconditional love” in Ojibway. For her, beading is medicine.
