Burn Down The Capital & Bryan W. Bray Present:
@ Baby G (1608 Dundas St. West)
Philadelphia avant metal destruction unit Cleric (Web Of Mimicry / Tzadik) returns to Toronto. A crushingly heavy merger of prog fuelled angular bursts buried in vibrating distortion & raw vocal howls. Guitar notes ring out as cymbals glisten in Cleric epic comedowns. Jazz influenced meanderings butt up against claustrophobic clouds of metallic chaos. Rapid fire percussion drives this non stop beast of mythic proportions. A mutant baby cut from the same cloth as Meshuggah, John Zorn & Neurosis, Cleric blends the speed & brutality of grindcore with the expansiveness of psychedelic doom. One of the most ripping & gripping metal bands around. See you in the pit!
FUTURE MACHINES (https://futuremachinesfuturemachines.bandcamp.com)
Math rock / freak prog trio led by guitarist Matt Fong along with synth player Chris Pruden & percussionist Lorenzo Castelli digs into the avant shred zone. Tight rhythms, angular guitar notes & heavy synth bass rattle against each other. Quick changes snap one repetitious rabbit hole to the next. Droning notes provide a temporal plain for meandering guitar & drum conversations. Sounding electronic at times the trio battles with it's own controlled spastic nature. Get wild.
