It would be hard to find a more suitable four-hands team to tackle the mighty Brahms 2nd Symphony than these two - Angela Park and Stephen Sylvestre. Setephan has long been a professor at Western University, and now he is joined by Angela whom we think to be one of the world's great chamber music pianists. Angela has played for us far too many times to count, in solo, duo, trio, piano quartet, piano quintet, and - umm, I think there are more but OK!
Brahms said jokingly to his publisher that the Symphony no. 2 was a dour and serious work. In fact, it's easily the cheeriest of his four symphonies, and I have always thought of it as the "summer" event among the four.
There will be other pieces as well on this program but we don't yet have them.
