Don't Jump to Recipe: Liquid Smoke & Mirrors is a unique immersive theatre experience presented in the form of a cooking class at the Kitchener Market Kitchen. Creator/performer Maria Colonescu will teach traditional Romanian dishes as part of a full-fleged theatrical performance. An exploration of identity, culture, and nostalgia. How much can we bend traditions without breaking away from them completely?

Audiences can choose one of two ways of engaging with the production:

The "participant" ticket is for those who want to be involved in the actual cooking of the dishes and fully partake in the meal, with the choice to take home any leftover food (please bring your own containers!).

The "spectator" ticket is a less involved experience, for those who do not want to participate in the cooking aspect. While "spectators" will have the opportunity to try some of the food, these tickets are for a more limited offering.

Both ticket options are available on a sliding scale.

All of the food cooked will be suitable for vegetarians, and some will be suitable for vegans. While some of the food is also gluten-free, we cannot guarantee a gluten-free, celiac safe space with no cross-contamination. We also cannot guarantee a nut-free space.

Light refreshments will be offered at the start of the show.

Please note that doors will close promptly at listed times and latecomers will not be admitted.

The performance is approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes, with no intermission.
