Join us for a unique workshop that offers a rare opportunity to gain insights and tips on performance techniques from seasoned professional actor Marion Adler and multi-award-winning spoken word poet Heidi Sander.
 
This 4-hour hands-on workshop is designed to help you move from writing your work to truly embodying it. Whether you’re stepping up to the mic for the first time or looking to refine your presence, you’ll gain practical tools to manage performance anxiety, strengthen your voice, and feel grounded and confident in front of an audience and bring your words to life.
 
In this workshop we will address some of the challenges, pitfalls and delights of presenting your work in public and provide you with an opportunity to experiment with various approaches and techniques that will improve both your experience and the listening audience.
 
Workshop Highlights:

• Expert Guidance: Our workshop is led by actor Marion Adler, and spoken word poet Heidi Sander, who will share valuable tips and techniques to enhance your spoken word performances. Learn how to captivate your audience with confidence and flair.
• Anxiety Management Techniques: Learn practical, in-the-moment strategies to calm your body, steady your breath, and stay connected to your work while performing.
• Voice and Articulation: Discover the power of your voice! You will explore various vocal exercises to improve clarity, projection, and emotional expression, ensuring that your words resonate with impact.
• Interactive Session: You will have the chance to perform your pieces and receive personalized feedback from Marion Adler and Heidi Sander.

This workshop will run from 11 am to 4 pm with a 1 hour break from 1 pm to 2 pm.

ABOUT MARION ADLER
Marion Adler is an award winning lyricist and actor whose work has been seen and produced across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
She has been a member of the Stratford Festival’s acting company for ten seasons and is a happy 40 year resident of Stratford.

ABOUT HEIDI SANDER
Multi-award-winning poet, best-selling author and passionate performer Heidi Sander’s has performed her poems in multi-media shows, dance, a theatrical concert, and short film, which premiered worldwide at the Stratford Film Festival. She has collaborated with chamber music quartets, dancers, filmmakers, musicians, visual and textile artists to expand the artistic landscape for her work.
