Medusa Quartet reimagines the Western string quartet through the wild, resonant, and deeply human sounds of folk tradition. Wielding fiddles, cello, viola, nyckelharpa, suka, Płock fiddle, and lyra, these four innovative musicians invite audiences into a sound world where forgotten instruments and cast-out voices return with power and beauty.
Their music blends original compositions with traditional tunes from around the world, weaving together stories of resilience, transformation, and belonging. Inspired by the myth of Medusa and the Japanese art of Kintsugi, Medusa Quartet celebrates what has been broken, misunderstood, or dismissed, turning it into something luminous.
With members Saskia Tomkins, Marta Sołek, Lea Kirstein, and Georgia Hathaway, Medusa Quartet brings virtuosity, groove, improvisation, and emotional depth to the stage.
