Tone Deaf, Kingston's festival of adventurous sound performance, in collaboration with the Kingston Art's Council's "Cultural Kaleidoscope" and the Kingston Canadian Film Festival present Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq creating a live soundtrack to the 1922 film "Nanook of the North," accompanied by violinist Jesse Zubot and percussionist Jean Martin. Tanya Tagaq in concert with "Nanook of the North" was commissioned by TIFF Bell Lightbox as part of its film retrospective, "First Peoples Cinema: 1500 Nations, One Tradition." The Kingston performance will be introduced by a traditional welcome from community drummers WÓba Mahýgan (White Wolf) and dancers Cindy Scouten, Donnalynn Neil, Brodrick Gabriel and Paul Carl; and presented alongside a visual art exhibit of the Cape Dorset 2013 Annual Print Collection, hosted by Cornerstone Gallery.
