THE OCCUPY SPRING PROJECT MT Space production April 20 - 22, 2017 / 8pm April 22 matinee / 2pm The Registry Theatre 122 Frederick St, Kitchener Created by the collective Directed by Majdi Bou-Matar This project started back in 2012 as an exploration of the Occupy, Arab Spring and Idle No More movements. We looked at the body-in-protest, as it reclaims its collective presence through occupying streets, parks, public squares, toppling regimes and changing the political landscapes of many countries. Now five years later, the spring has turned into winter, and survival became the only means of resistance as people flee their homes creating one of the most severe refugee crises in history. What does it mean to resist? What does it mean to survive? Questions raised through the stories of three families: Indigenous, Anglo-European and Syrian.
