The decommissioned Kingston Penitentiary has hosted walking tours and film productions in recent years, but the future of the building is uncertain. Our hope is the space can be re-imagined for the arts and community building - a place that also provides opportunities for learning and collaboration. In partnership with The United Way and the John Howard Society, we're presenting a series of concerts that will assist artists, provide jobs for local arts workers, raise funds and awareness for local charities, and showcase how the space may be utilized for a broad range of the community as the conversation escalates on the future of KP.
The "Mattress Shop Series" will feature a combination of touring and local musicians. Each show will also provide information on local organizations that are working alongside the incarcerated (or formerly incarcerated) and their families to provide programs and education to all those affected by the criminal justice system.
Classified w/ Reeny Smith will perform Thursday October 13.
This performance will be at The Spire.
This performance will be acoustic.
Non-alcoholic refreshments will be available for purchase. Cash recommmend as wifi is limited inside the building.
