In this deeply personal and beautifully textured film by Prince Edward County-based filmmaker and cinematographer Tess Girard, major life changes prompt her to take a fresh look at the places that helped form her and examine the meaning of community. For Girard, that means a return to the Horning’s Mills, Ontario, where she was raised and where she now finds a fascinating gallery of people who share her deep connections to these landscapes. A film full of rich details and quiet revelations, SHELTER is sure to compel viewers to reflect on their own relationships with the environments that have meant the most to them.
