The Canadain Celtic Choir is pleased to present its 2025 Christmas & Holiday concert titled "A Celtic Noel" with special guests John P. Allen, fiddle & Larry Smith, guitar.
Founded in 1996, the Canadian Celtic Choir is an auditioned SATB community choir based in London, Ontario that sings and promotes Celtic choral music and culture. The CCC has played many of Ontario’s most popular music festivals, and has toured Hawaii, England & Scotland, the Canadian Maritimes, most recently Newfoundland this past June. The Canadian Celtic Choir is conducted by Paul Grambo and accompanied by pianist Stephen Holowitz.
John P. Allen has had a long and distinguished career as one of the best country, rock and bluegrass fiddlers in Canada. He was a member of the country-rock band Great Speckled Bird in the 1970s, and played with bluegrass bands The Good Brothers, Big Redd Ford and London’s Dixie Flyers (inducted into the London Music Hall of Fame in 2013). He was a member of Tommy Hunter's band, and as a longstanding member of Prairie Oyster, he won six JUNO awards. In 2005 he released The Canadian (Fiddle) Violin CD that demonstrated various styles of Canadian fiddle. He is a member of the house band at Purple Hill Country Hall in Thorndale and also plays with The Allen Family Band (their album The Allen Family Reunion was released in 2013).
Larry Smith has been a professional guitarist since 1973. Giving guitar performances all over North America, in Europe and the Orient with pop groups, folk groups, blues bands and jazz combos. Larry has accompanied symphony orchestras in London, Toronto, Quebec City and Edmonton. He was part of Orchestra London's education outreach program in schools throughout Southwestern Ontario. He performs in a duo with Tara Dunphy, and is a founding member of The Jitterbugs.
