Here's a behind-the-scenes and behind-the-walls chance to enter the Kingston Penitentiary to learn about the Roger Caron story. GO-BOY! is a documentary examining the true life story of Roger Caron, a jail-breaking bank robber who taught himself how to write in prison and went on to win the Governor General’s Award, Canada’s highest literary award. While incarcerated at the Kingston Penitentiary, Caron began writing intensely detailed accounts of his life and this film captures his extraordinary journey to redemption. Filmmaker Rob Lindsay (Queen's University Film alumni) and members of the Caron family will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. GO-BOY! was premiered at the last "pre-pandemic" edition of KCFF and has had a very limited release since.
This screening will be outdoors. Patrons can enter the main KP doors starting 7:30pm and will be guided to the viewing area. We recommend bringing your own lawn chair.
