In 1981 Kingston poet Bronwen Wallace and her partner, film studies graduate Chris Whynot, made a documentary about their good friend Pat Logan who was, at the time, struggling to “live in the shadow” of a terminal cancer diagnosis. Pat was a young mother of four, living just outside Perth Road Village north of the city. Her husband and children all appear in the film. The result is a powerful, insightful meditation on family, life, death, and what really matters. This movie, recently restored, has not been available for decades. The program will include an introductory reading of Bronwen Wallace’s poetry by Carolyn Smart. Footage from this film also appears in THE COLOUR OF INK - also screening at the Fest this season - which tells the story of Pat’s son, Jason Logan.
