This foursome did not edsist as a quartet before. Rather, all have been members of the Kitchener-Wateerloo (K-W) Symphony. Those who have heard this symphony live in concerts will know what we mean when we say that this is a fine organization. The four players in this quartet are all from the front ranks of their instruments -- in fact, each is an Assistant Principlal player.
You don't need to come out of curiosity when you see what their program is: Beethoven's last complete quartet, no. 16, and Laos Janacek's Quartet no. 1, "Kreutzer Sonata" - both are amazing works. Beethoven's is a great statement from a great composer on the verge of death - yet the piece itself is vital and optimistic. Janacek's is based on the story by Leo Tolstoy of th at name (Kreutzer Sonata). It takes a strong player to put these works together - we're sure they'll come through!
Cutoff is Wednesday, February 8, 2023 4:29 pm EST unless it sells out earlier.
