ABOUT THE SHOW
Slimm, a seventeen-year-old Black boy in a hoodie suddenly finds himself in the first moments of his afterlife. What happens next is a sacred journey through the unknown, as Slimm grapples with the truth of the life he lived and the death he didn’t choose.
Our Fathers, Sons, Lovers and Little Brothers is a protest for all Black life beyond headlines and hashtags, a prayer for all families left behind, and a promise to the community that all Black lives matter.
Winner of the 2019 Dora Mavor Moore Awards for Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Performance of an Individual in the Theatre for Young Audiences Category; Platform Presents Playwright's Prize 2021 Shortlist.
This Presentation in Kitchener, ON by Green Light Arts is part of a 2023 Tour with stops in Winnipeg (Prairie Theatre Exchange), Montreal (Black Theatre Workshop), and Saskatoon (Persephone Theatre).
AUDIENCE ADVISORY: This play deals with racism, racialized police violence, gun violence, discussions of religion and death, racialized language, swearing, and Marijuana use.
