Sand Pendulum Performance (September 27, 6pm):
A pendulum filled with sand will use kinetic energy and harmonic motion to slowly create a naturally complex sand sculpture over the course of one hour. While the pendulum swings, musicians will generate a new composition in response to slowly evolving sand sculpture. Using the physics of the pendulum, the artists will explore time, patterns, ritual, and beauty.
Designed and directed by Gary Kirkham.
Sand Pendulum Sculpture (throughout IMPACT 23):
Twice a day during the IMPACT Festival (keep an eye out for more information soon!), the Sand Pendulum will be engaged and a unique sand sculpture will slowly emerge.
As the pendulum moves, an *arduino will trigger a computer program that will create a new composition based on the movement of the pendulum in space. *(arduino created and programmed by Rob Gorbet with Laura Stinson)
Created and designed by Gary Kirkham.
