While Canadian hockey fans are rarely reticent when it comes to expressing their disappointment, followers of the Vancouver Canucks have expressed a tendency to take things too far. That's one way of describing the events of June 15, 2011, when the Canucks' Game 7 loss to the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals led to a riot that caused millions of dollars of damage and ended in hundreds of arrests. But in their riveting documentary, directors Asia Youngman and Kathleen Jayme make the convincing case that this was something more than just another hockey riot. Instead, then-new phenomena like smartphones and social media had unexpected ramifications for everyone involved in the chaos, including the many rioters who share their experiences of the night and its surprising aftermath.
